This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's teachings on how to perform ablution and prayer while travelling. It is narrated by Jabir b. 'Abdullah, who accompanied the Prophet on a journey and reached a watering place. The Prophet asked him if he was going to enter it, which he did, after which the Prophet went away to relieve himself and placed water for ablution when he returned. He then performed ablution before standing up for prayer in one garment with its ends tied from opposite sides, making Jabir stand on his right side while catching hold of his ear.
