Praising Allah After Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (pbuh) praised Allah after the prayer and then said "Amma ba'du".

Narrated Abu Hummaid As-Sa'idi: One night Allah's Messenger (pbuh) stood up after the prayer and recited "Tashah-hud" and then praised Allah as He deserved and said, "Amma ba'du".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَامَ عَشِيَّةً بَعْدَ الصَّلاَةِ، فَتَشَهَّدَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَى اللَّهِ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏"‏ أَمَّا بَعْدُ ‏"‏‏.‏ تَابَعَهُ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏"‏ أَمَّا بَعْدُ ‏"‏‏.‏ تَابَعَهُ الْعَدَنِيُّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ فِي أَمَّا بَعْدُ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of praising Allah after prayer. After completing his prayer, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) recited Tashah-hud and then praised Allah as He deserved. Then he said “Amma ba’du” which means “what comes next?” This phrase is used to indicate that one should move on to other matters or activities. It teaches us that we should not linger too long in our prayers but rather move on with our lives and continue doing good deeds for the sake of Allah. We should also remember to always praise Him for His blessings and mercy upon us.
