Sahih Muslim 749a (Book 6, Hadith 177) #8902
Night Prayer in Islam

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised that night prayer should consist of pairs of rak'ahs, but if one fears morning is near, they should pray one rak'ah.

Ibn 'Umar reported that a person asked the Messenger of Allah about the night prayer. The Messenger of Allah said: Prayer during the night should consist of pairs of rak'ahs, but if one of you fears morning is near, he should pray one rak'ah which will make his prayer an odd number for him.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us the importance of prayer during the night. He advised that it should consist of pairs of rak’ahs, which are units or cycles within a prayer. However, if one fears morning is near and they have not completed their prayer yet, they can pray one rak’ah to make their prayer an odd number for them. This hadith teaches us the importance of praying at night and how to adjust our prayers when time is limited. It also encourages us to be mindful and aware of our surroundings so we can complete our prayers on time.
