The Second Adhan on Fridays

SUMMARY: Uthman bin Affan introduced a second Adhan on Fridays when the number of people in the mosque increased.

Narrated As-Sa'ib bin Yazid I: 'Uthman bin 'Affan introduced the second Adhan on Fridays when the number of the people in the mosque increased. Previously the Adhan on Fridays used to be pronounced only after the Imam had taken his seat (on the pulpit).

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for inclusion, Remember religious duties regularly

EXPLANATIONS:
Uthman bin Affan was a companion of Prophet Muhammad and the third Caliph of Islam. He introduced a second call to prayer, known as an adhan, on Fridays when the number of people in the mosque increased. This was done so that everyone could hear it and be reminded to come for prayer. Before this, only one adhan was pronounced after the Imam had taken his seat on the pulpit. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to make sure that everyone is included and no one is left out or forgotten about. We should also remember our religious duties and take part in them regularly so that we can stay connected with God Almighty.
