Sahih Muslim 711a (Book 6, Hadith 79) #8804
The Importance of Praying at Dawn

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) passed by a person who was praying and said something to him, which was not known. When asked what the Prophet said, he replied that the Prophet had said that he perceived as if one of them was about to observe four rak'ahs of the dawn prayer.

'Abdullah b. Malik b. Buhaina reported: The Messenger of Allah happened to pass by a person who was busy in praying while the (Fard of the) dawn prayer had commenced. He said something to him, which we do not know what it was. When we turned back we surrounded him and said: What is it that the Messenger of Allah said to you? He replied: He (the Holy Prophet) had said to me that he perceived as if one of them was about to observe four (rak'ahs) of the dawn prayer. Qa'nabi reported that 'Abdullah b. Malik b. Buhaina narrated it on the authority of his father. (Abu'l-Husain Muslim said): His assertion that he has narrated this hadith on the authority of his father is not correct.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of praying at dawn or Fajr prayer as it is an obligation upon every Muslim to perform it in order to fulfill their religious duties and obligations towards Allah SWT. It also shows us how much attention and care our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH paid towards people's religious practices even when they were unaware or unaware of its importance themselves. He saw someone praying but noticed that they were about to miss out on some rak'ahs so he kindly reminded them in order for them to complete their prayer properly and gain its full reward from Allah SWT. This hadith teaches us that we should always be mindful and attentive when performing our prayers so we can reap its full benefits, as well as reminding us how important it is for us Muslims to pray at dawn every day without fail in order for us to stay connected with Allah SWT through this act of worship.
