Sahih Muslim 706b (Book 6, Hadith 63) #8788
Combining Prayers for Ease

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad combined the noon and afternoon prayers, as well as the sunset and 'Isha' prayers, in order to prevent his followers from facing unnecessary hardship.

Mu'adh b. Jabal reported: The Messenger of Allah combined in the expedition to Tabuk the noon prayer with the afternoon prayer and the sunset prayer with the 'Isha' prayer. He (one of the narrators) said: What prompted him to do that? He (Mu'adh) replied that he (the Holy Prophet) wanted that his Ummah should not be put to (unnecessary) hardship.

QUICK LESSONS:
Make things easier for others whenever possible .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad was known for his compassion and mercy towards his followers. During the expedition to Tabuk, he combined two of the five daily prayers - noon prayer with afternoon prayer and sunset prayer with 'Isha' prayer - in order to prevent them from facing any unnecessary hardship or difficulty. This act of kindness shows that he was always looking out for their best interests even when they were away from home on a journey. He wanted them to be able to focus on their mission without having to worry about fulfilling their religious obligations at inconvenient times or places. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to make things easier for others whenever possible so that they can focus on what is important without being burdened by extra tasks or responsibilities.
