Sahih Muslim 704a (Book 6, Hadith 56) #8781
Combining Prayers While Travelling

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would combine the noon and afternoon prayers when travelling before the sun declined, but if it had already declined he would observe them separately.

Anas b. Malik reported: When the Messenger of Allah set out on a journey before the sun declined (from the meridian), he delayed the noon prayer till the afternoon prayer, and then dismounted (his ride) and combined them (noon and afternoon prayers), but if the sun had declined before his setting out on a journey, he observed the noon prayer and then mounted (the ride).

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of religious obligations while travelling . Prioritize prayer over other activities . Maintain a healthy spiritual life .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains how the Prophet Muhammad PBUH used to pray while travelling. He would combine his noon and afternoon prayers if he set out on a journey before the sun declined from its meridian, but if it had already declined then he would observe them separately. This teaches us that we should be mindful of our religious obligations even when we are travelling, and that we should not neglect our prayer times due to any external factors such as travel or work commitments. We can also learn from this that prayer is an important part of our lives and should be given priority over other activities in order to maintain a healthy spiritual life.
