Combining Sunset and 'Isha' Prayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) combined the sunset and 'Isha' prayers when he was in a hurry on a journey.

Ibn 'Umar reported: When the Messenger of Allah was in a state of hurry on a journey, he combined the sunset and 'Isha' prayers.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِذَا عَجِلَ بِهِ السَّيْرُ جَمَعَ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that we can combine two prayers, the sunset prayer and the Isha prayer, if we are in a hurry while travelling. This is an important lesson for us to remember as it allows us to save time while still fulfilling our religious obligations. We should also remember that this is only allowed when we are travelling, not at any other time. This hadith teaches us that even though our religious obligations are important, they should not be so burdensome that they prevent us from doing other necessary tasks or activities.
