Prayer Prescribed by Allah

SUMMARY: Allah has prescribed prayer for travelers, residents, and those in danger.

Ibn 'Abbas reported: Allah has prescribed the prayer by the tongue of your Apostle as two rak'ahs for the traveler, four for the resident, and one in danger.
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ، جَمِيعًا عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، - قَالَ عَمْرٌو حَدَّثَنَا قَاسِمُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ، - حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ عَائِذٍ الطَّائِيُّ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ الأَخْنَسِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ فَرَضَ الصَّلاَةَ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّكُمْ عَلَى الْمُسَافِرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَعَلَى الْمُقِيمِ أَرْبَعًا وَفِي الْخَوْفِ رَكْعَةً

EXPLANATIONS:
Allah has prescribed prayer for different types of people. For travelers, two rak'ahs are required; four rak'ahs are required for those who live in one place; and one rak'ah is required when a person is in danger. This hadith teaches us that we should always remember to pray no matter what situation we find ourselves in. It also reminds us that prayer is an important part of our faith and should be taken seriously. We should strive to make sure that we fulfill our obligations as Muslims by praying regularly and with sincerity.
