Sahih Muslim 685a (Book 6, Hadith 1) #8726
Prayer Prescribed in Journey and Residence

SUMMARY: The prayer was originally prescribed as two rak'ahs, and an addition was made to the prayer observed at the place of residence.

'A'isha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah , reported: The prayer was prescribed as two rak'ahs, two rak'ahs both in journey and at the place of residence. The prayer while travelling remained as it was (originally prescribed), but an addition was made in the prayer (observed) at the place of residence.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray your Salah with full concentration and devotion even if you're tired from traveling or staying in one place for too long .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that when Muslims are travelling they should pray two rak’ahs for their salah. However, when they are not travelling and are in a place of residence then they should add an extra two rak’ahs to their salah. This is because it is more difficult to travel than it is to stay in one place. Therefore Allah has given us this concession so that we can be comfortable while praying our salah. It teaches us that even though we may be tired from travelling or staying in one place for too long, we must still make sure to pray our salah with full concentration and devotion as it is a very important part of our faith.
