Sahih Muslim 677e (Book 5, Hadith 382) #8693
Prayer of Curse Upon Those Who Killed Companions

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) reciting a prayer of curse upon those who killed his companions.

Asim reported: I asked Anas whether Qunut was observed (by the Holy prophet) before ruku' or after ruku'. He replied: Before ruku'. I said: People conceive that the Messenger of Allah observed Qunut after the ruku'. He said: The Messenger of Allah observed Qunut (after the ruku' as the people conceive it) for a mouth invoking curse upon those persons who had killed men among his Companions who were called the reciter (of the Qur'an).

QUICK LESSONS:
Stand up for what is right, Seek justice even if it means invoking Allah's wrath on our enemies .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of reciting a supplication or prayer known as Qunut before or after bowing in ruku'. It was done to invoke a curse upon those who killed some of his companions, who were known as the reciters. This shows us how much he cared for his companions and how he was willing to take action against those who wronged them. He also taught us that we should stand up for what is right and seek justice even if it means invoking Allah's wrath on our enemies.
