QUICK LESSONS:
Obey God's Commands at all times

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was known to be a very merciful man, but he also had a strong sense of justice. He would often pray for his enemies and those who wronged him, but there were times when he felt that invoking curse was necessary. This is what happened when Anas b. Malik reported that the Messenger of Allah observed Qunut for a month in the dawn prayer after ruku' and invoked curse upon Ri'l, Dhakwan, and said that Usaiya had disobeyed Allah and His Apostle. Qunut is an Arabic term which means “standing” or “supplication”; it is usually done during the morning prayer as an act of supplication to God asking Him to grant one's wishes or requests. In this case, it was used by the Prophet Muhammad as an act of invoking curse upon three people who had wronged him or disobeyed Allah's commands - Ri'l, Dhakwan, and Usaiya - as punishment for their actions. This shows us how important it is to obey God's commands at all times because even if we are wronged by someone else we should still seek justice through proper channels instead of taking matters into our own hands.
