Sahih Muslim 647c (Book 5, Hadith 297) #8611
The Night Prayer of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray at night and recite a large number of verses in the morning prayer. He also discouraged sleeping before the night prayer and talking after it.

Abu Barza b. Aslami is reported to have said: The Messenger of Allah delayed the night prayer till a third of the night had passed and he did not approve of sleeping before it, and talking after it, and he used to recite in the morning prayer from one hundred to sixty verses (and completed the prayer at such hours) when we recognized the faces of one another.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abu Barza b. Aslami speaks about the importance of praying at night and reciting a large number of verses in the morning prayer according to Prophet Muhammad's practice. It is reported that he delayed his night prayer until a third of the night had passed and did not approve of sleeping before it or talking after it. During his morning prayers, he would recite between one hundred to sixty verses which was enough for people to recognize each other's faces due to its lengthiness. This hadith emphasizes on how important it is for Muslims to pray regularly during both day and night times as well as reciting Quran during their prayers for spiritual growth and development.
