EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about how the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, used to offer his afternoon prayer. He would begin by reciting two short chapters from the Quran and then he would make supplications for himself and for all Muslims. He would then recite more verses from the Quran before prostrating twice in remembrance of Allah. Finally, he would end his prayer with a salutation and supplication for himself and all Muslims. This hadith teaches us that we should take our time when praying and make sure to include supplications as well as remembering Allah during our prayers. It also shows us that we should strive to follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet by praying with sincerity and devotion just like he did.
