Finishing Prayers with Takbir

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to finish his prayer with a takbir (Allah-O-Akbar).

Ibn 'Abbas said: We used to know that Allah's Messenger had finished his prayer when we heard the takbir (Allah-O-Akbar).
حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي بِذَا أَبُو مَعْبَدٍ، - ثُمَّ أَنْكَرَهُ بَعْدُ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ كُنَّا نَعْرِفُ انْقِضَاءَ صَلاَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ

This hadith is about the importance of finishing prayers with a takbir. A takbir is an Arabic phrase meaning “God is the greatest” and it is said aloud at the end of prayers. According to this hadith, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to finish his prayer by saying this phrase. This teaches us that we should always remember God and thank Him for His blessings when we are done praying. It also reminds us that God should be at the center of our lives and that He should be praised in all circumstances.
