Sahih al-Bukhari 875 (Book 10, Hadith 266) #846
Leaving the Mosque After Prayer

SUMMARY: Women should leave the mosque after prayer before men can catch up with them.

Narrated Umm Salama: Whenever Allah's Messenger completed the Salat with Taslim, the women used to get up immediately and Allah's Messenger would remain at his place for sometime before getting up. The subnarrator (Az-Zuhri) said, "We think, and Allah knows better, that he did so, so that the women might leave before the men could catch up with them".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect each other's privacy and be mindful of your actions in public places like mosques
EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Umm Salama explains that when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ finished his prayer in the mosque, women would get up and leave immediately. He would stay for a while before getting up himself. This was done so that women could leave before men could catch up with them. This hadith teaches us to respect each other's privacy and to be mindful of our actions in public places like mosques. It also teaches us to be mindful of our gender roles and not mix between genders in public places like mosques as it is not appropriate according to Islamic teachings.
