Seeking Forgiveness from Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to ask for forgiveness from Allah for all his sins, both big and small.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah used to say while prostrating himself: O Lord, forgive me all my sins, small and great, first and last, open and secret.
وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، وَيُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالاَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ سُمَىٍّ، مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي سُجُودِهِ ‏ "‏ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي كُلَّهُ دِقَّهُ وَجِلَّهُ وَأَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ وَعَلاَنِيَتَهُ وَسِرَّهُ

The hadith narrated by Abu Huraira tells us that the Prophet Muhammad used to ask for forgiveness from Allah while prostrating himself. We should always remember that no matter what we do, if we sincerely repent and ask for forgiveness, then Allah will forgive us.
