Reciting a Specific Verse in the Noon Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite a specific verse in the noon prayer.

Jabir b. Samura reported: The Apostle of Allah used to recite in the noon prayer:" Glorify the name of thy Most High Lord in the morning prayer longer than this" (LXXXVII)
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، ‏.‏ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ بِـ ‏{‏ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى‏}‏ وَفِي الصُّبْحِ بِأَطْوَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of reciting a specific verse during the noon prayer. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite Surah 87 in his noon prayer as it was revealed to him by Allah. This surah is known as ‘Al-A’la’ and it talks about glorifying Allah and praising Him for His greatness and mercy. It also encourages believers to be patient and steadfast in their faith even when faced with difficult times or hardships. By reciting this surah during the noon prayer, Muslims are reminded of their duty towards Allah and how they should strive to live according to His teachings every day. Furthermore, this hadith serves as an example for us on how we should spend our time wisely by dedicating some of it towards worshipping Allah through prayers such as salat al-duha which is performed at midday or midafternoon when the sun has reached its highest point in the sky.
