Following Instructions of the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer while he was ill, and when he recovered, he sat beside Abu Bakr and allowed him to continue leading the prayer.

'A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah ordered Abu Bakr that he should lead people in prayer during his illness, and he led them in prayer'.Urwa said: The Messenger of Allah felt relief and went (to the mosque) and Abu Bakr was leading the people in prayer. When Abu Bakr saw him he began to withdraw, but the Messenger of Allah signaled him to remain where he was. The Messenger of Allah sat opposite to Abu Bakr by his side. Abu Bakr said prayer following the prayer of the Messenger of Allah , and the people said prayer following the prayer of Abu Bakr.

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey instructions given by elders/those in authority ; Be humble ; Accept help ; Follow orders .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about following instructions from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith, we learn that when the Prophet ﷺ was ill, he asked Abu Bakr to lead people in prayer. When the Prophet ﷺ recovered from his illness, instead of taking back his position as leader of prayer himself, he allowed Abu Bakr to continue leading it. This teaches us that we should always obey instructions given by our elders or those in authority over us even if they are not what we would have chosen for ourselves. We should also be humble enough to accept help from others and not be too proud or stubborn to do so.
