Repeating What the Mu'adhdhin Pronounces

SUMMARY: The hadith encourages Muslims to repeat what the Mu'adhdhin pronounces when they hear the call to prayer.

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: When you hear the call (to prayer), repeat what the Mu'adhdhin pronounces.
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ النِّدَاءَ فَقُولُوا مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ

This hadith encourages Muslims to repeat what is said by the Mu’adhdhin when they hear the call for prayer. The Mu’adhdhin is a person who calls out for people to come and pray in congregation.
