Sahih Muslim 355b (Book 3, Hadith 115) #7963
Eating Without Ablution

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was seen eating slices of goat's shoulder and then he was called for prayer, so he got up and offered prayer without performing ablution.

Ja'far b. 'Amr b. Umayya al-Damari reported on the authority of his father who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah take slices from goat's shoulder and then eat them. He was called for prayer and he got'up, leaving aside the knife, and offered prayer but did not perform ablution.

QUICK LESSONS:
Prioritize religious duties over worldly activities, offer regular prayers on time

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's practice when it comes to eating and praying. He was seen taking slices from a goat's shoulder and then eating them, but when he was called for prayer, he left aside the knife and went to offer his prayers without performing ablution first. This shows us that even though ablutions are important before offering prayers, they can be skipped in certain situations if needed. It also teaches us that we should prioritize our religious duties over worldly activities like eating or drinking etc., as the Prophet did in this situation by leaving aside his food to go pray instead.
