Sahih Muslim 343a (Book 3, Hadith 97) #7945
Obligation of Bath After Sexual Intercourse

SUMMARY: Bath is obligatory after sexual intercourse or seminal emission.

Sa'id al-Khudri narrated it from his father: I went to Quba' with the Messenger of Allah on Monday till we reached (the habitation) of Banu Salim. The Messenger of Allah stood at the door of 'Itban and called him loudly. So he came out dragging his lower garment. Upon this the Messenger of Allah said: We have made this man to make haste 'Itban said: Messenger of Allah, if a man parts with his wife suddenly without seminal emission, what is he required to do (with regard to bath)? The Messenger of Allah said: It is with the seminal emission that bath becomes obligatory.

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek knowledge from reliable sources , Take a bath after engaging in sexual intercourse
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the obligation of taking a bath, known as ghusl, after engaging in sexual intercourse or seminal emission. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was asked about this and he replied that it is with the seminal emission that bath becomes obligatory. This means that if a man has sexual intercourse with his wife and there is no ejaculation, then he does not need to take a bath. However, if there is ejaculation then both partners must take a bath in order to be considered pure and clean again according to Islamic teachings. This hadith also teaches us the importance of seeking knowledge from reliable sources such as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself instead of relying on hearsay or guesswork when it comes to matters related to religion and faith.
