Ablution and Bathing of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) performed ablution with one Mudd and took a bath with up to five Mudds.

Anas said: The Apostle of Allah performed ablution with one Mudd and took bath with a Sa' up to five Mudds.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جَبْرٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ يَتَوَضَّأُ بِالْمُدِّ وَيَغْتَسِلُ بِالصَّاعِ إِلَى خَمْسَةِ أَمْدَادٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by Anas ibn Malik tells us about the ablutions and bathing practices of the beloved prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It is reported that he would perform ablutions with one mudd which is equivalent to two handfuls of water. He would also take a bath using up to five mudds which is equivalent to ten handfuls of water. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful in our cleanliness practices as it was something important for the prophet ﷺ himself. We should strive to follow his example in this regard as it will bring us closer to Allah SWT and help us become better Muslims.
