SUMMARY: The hadith is about the upper limit of wiping over socks for travelers and residents.

Shuraih b. Hani said: I came to 'A'isha to ask her about wiping over the socks. She said: You better ask ('Ali) son of Abu Talib for he used to travel with Allah's Messenger . We asked him and he said: The Messenger of Allah stipulated (the upper limit) of three days and three nights for a traveler and one day and one night for the resident.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the limits of wiping over socks for travelers and residents. According to this hadith, a traveler can wipe over their socks for three days and three nights while a resident can only do so for one day and one night. This means that if someone is traveling, they are allowed to wipe over their socks instead of washing them every time they perform wudu or ablution. However, if someone is not traveling, then they must wash their feet each time they perform wudu or ablution. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions when it comes to religious practices such as performing wudu or ablution correctly according to Islamic teachings. It also reminds us that we should be aware of the differences between travelers and residents when it comes to religious practices such as these in order to ensure that we are following Islamic teachings correctly.
