The Prophet's Prayer for Certain People and Tribes

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) praying for certain people and tribes, asking Allah to be hard on those who oppose him.

And Abu Huraira said, "When Allah's Messenger raised his head from (bowing) he used to say "Sami'a l-lahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd". He Would invoke Allah for some people by naming them: "O Allah! Save Al-Walid bin Al-Walid and Salama bin Hisham and 'Aiyash bin Abi Rabi'a and the weak and the helpless people among the faithful believers O Allah! Be hard on the tribe of Mudar and let them suffer from famine years like that of the time of Joseph". In those days the Eastern section of the tribe of Mudar was against the Prophet.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the Prophet Muhammad's prayer for certain people and tribes. He would raise his head from bowing in prayer and say "Sami'a l-lahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd" which translates to "Allah hears those who praise Him, our Lord! All praise is due to You". He would then invoke Allah by naming specific people such as Al-Walid bin Al-Walid, Salama bin Hisham, 'Aiyash bin Abi Rabi'a, as well as the weak and helpless believers. He also asked Allah to be hard on the tribe of Mudar who were against him at that time. This hadith teaches us that we should always pray for others even if they are our opponents or enemies; it also shows us how important it is to have faith in God during difficult times like famine or poverty.
