Sahih Muslim 249b (Book 2, Hadith 52) #7756
Visiting the Graveyard and Wishing Peace

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) visiting a graveyard and wishing peace to those buried there, while also expressing his hope that he will join them soon.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace The upon him) went out to the graveyard and said: Peace be upon you, the abode of the believing people. and If Allah so wills we shall join you. (and so on and so forth) like the hadith narrated by Isma'il b. Ja'far except the words of Malik: Then some persons would be driven away from my Cistern.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the Prophet Muhammad's visit to a graveyard, where he wished peace upon those who were buried there. He expressed his hope that if Allah wills, he too would join them soon in death. He also mentioned that some people would be driven away from his Cistern - this refers to those who do not believe in Allah or follow His teachings.
