Sahih Muslim 210 (Book 1, Hadith 419) #7684
The Intercession of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that his intercession may benefit his uncle Abu Talib on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be placed in a shallow part of the Fire.

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: A mention was made of his uncle Abu Talib before the Messenger of Allah He said: My intercession may benefit him on the Day of Resurrection and he may be placed in the shallow part of the Fire which would reach his ankles and his brain would be boiling.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Allah's commands , Do Good Deeds Throughout Life .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the intercession that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will have on the Day of Resurrection. It is believed that when people are judged for their deeds, some may be sent to Hellfire. However, it is also believed that those who have done good deeds and followed Allah's commands can be saved from this punishment through intercession. In this hadith, it is mentioned that even though his uncle Abu Talib did not accept Islam during his lifetime, he may still benefit from the intercession of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He will be placed in a shallow part of Hellfire which would reach only up to his ankles and boiling water would reach up to his brain. This shows us how powerful and merciful Allah's mercy can be if we follow His commands and strive to do good deeds throughout our lives.
