Sahih Muslim 181a (Book 1, Hadith 354) #7619
The Joys of Paradise

SUMMARY: This hadith speaks of the joy and gratitude of those who are deserving of Paradise when they enter it, and how their greatest wish is to be able to see their Lord.

Suhaib reported the Apostle saying: When those deserving of Paradise would enter Paradise, the Blessed and the Exalted would ask: Do you wish Me to give you anything more? They would say: Hast Thou not brightened our faces? Hast Thou not made us enter Paradise and saved us from Fire? He (the narrator) said: He (God) would lift the veil, and of things given to them nothing would he dearer to them than the sight of their Lord, the Mighty and the Glorious.

QUICK LESSONS:
Expressing gratitude for all blessings received; Striving towards seeing God directly one day through His mercy alone; Using material & spiritual blessings correctly; Having faith & striving towards heaven/paradise/God's pleasure

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about how those who are deserving will be rewarded with entrance into paradise. Upon entering paradise, God will ask if there is anything else that they desire. The people in paradise will respond by expressing their gratitude for being saved from hellfire as well as for having been blessed with a beautiful face in paradise. God will then lift a veil so that they can see Him directly - something which is more precious than any other gift or reward that could have been given to them in paradise. This hadith teaches us about how grateful we should be for all that we have been blessed with here on earth - both material blessings as well as spiritual ones such as faith - since these blessings can lead us towards eternal bliss in heaven if we use them correctly. It also reminds us that our ultimate goal should be striving towards seeing God directly one day through His mercy alone since this is what brings true joy and happiness beyond compare!
