Where Does the Sun Go?

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad asked his companions if they knew where the sun goes.

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr that the Messenger of Allah one day said: Do you know where the sun goes? The remaining part of the hadith is the same.
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَيَانٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ قَالَ يَوْمًا ‏ "‏ أَتَدْرُونَ أَيْنَ تَذْهَبُ هَذِهِ الشَّمْسُ ‏"‏ بِمِثْلِ مَعْنَى حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad was curious about the natural world and asked his companions a question about where the sun goes when it sets. He wanted to know if they had any knowledge of this phenomenon. It also encourages us to seek knowledge from others who may have more information than we do.
