Sahih Muslim 71 (Book 1, Hadith 137) #7402
The Blessing of Attributing All Blessings to Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of attributing all blessings to Allah and not to any other source.

It is narrated on the authority of Zaid b. Khalid al-Juhani: The Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) led the morning prayer at Hudaibiyah. There were some marks of the rainfall during the night. At the conclusion of prayer he turned towards people and observed: Do you know what your Lord has said? They replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) remarked: He (Allah) said: Some of My bondsmen entered the morning as My believers and some as unbelievers. He who said: We have had a rainfall due to the Blessing and Mercy of Allah, he is My believer and a disbeliever of stars, and who said: We have had a rainfall due to the rising of such and such (star) disbelieved Me and affirmed his faith in the stars.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be grateful for your blessings from God; attribute them solely to Him; remain humble before your Creator at all times; obey God's commands faithfully .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Zaid b. Khalid al-Juhani and it talks about the importance of attributing all blessings to Allah and not any other source. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ led a prayer at Hudaibiyah after there was rainfall during the night. He asked his companions if they knew what their Lord said and they replied that only Allah and His Messenger know best. He then said that some people entered the morning as believers in Him while others were disbelievers in Him because some attributed the rainfall to His blessing while others attributed it to stars or other sources instead of Him. This hadith teaches us that we should always be grateful for our blessings from Allah and attribute them solely to Him as He is the one who provides us with everything we have in this world. We should never forget this important lesson so that we can remain humble before our Creator at all times.
