Sahih Muslim 49a (Book 1, Hadith 84) #7349
Changing Wrongdoing with Hands, Tongue and Heart

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that if one sees something wrong, they should try to change it with their hands, tongue or heart.

It is narrated on the authority of Tariq b. Shihab: It was Marwan who initiated (the practice) of delivering khutbah (address) before the prayer on the 'Id day. A man stood up and said: Prayer should precede khutbah. He (Marwan) remarked, This (practice) has been done away with. Upon this Abu Sa'id remarked: This man has performed (his duty) laid on him. I heard the Messenger of Allah as saying: He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart, and that is the least of faith.

QUICK LESSONS:
Try to modify wrongdoing with your hands, tongue or heart
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how to respond when one sees something wrong. It teaches us that we should try to modify the wrong thing with our hands if we can, or our tongues if we cannot use our hands. If even this is not possible then we should at least abhor it from our hearts which is the least of faith. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that this is an important part of faith and a way for us to be good Muslims. We must always strive to do what is right and correct any wrongdoing whenever possible in order for us to be true believers in Allah SWT.
