The Unacceptability of Changing Religion

SUMMARY: A hadith is reported on the authority of Anas which states that a person who changes his religion will not be accepted by Allah.

A similar hadith has been reported on the authority of Anas (with another chain of transmitters) with the exception of these words: that he again becomes a Jew or a Christian.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ بِنَحْوِ حَدِيثِهِمْ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ "‏ مِنْ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ يَهُودِيًّا أَوْ نَصْرَانِيًّا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith, reported on the authority of Anas, speaks about the unacceptability of changing one's religion. It states that if a person changes their religion from Islam to another faith, they will not be accepted by Allah. This teaches us that we should remain steadfast in our faith and not change it for any reason. We should also respect other people's beliefs and never try to force them to change their faith or practice something against their will. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us that we must always strive to please Allah and follow His commands in order to gain His acceptance and mercy.
