The Power of Reciting Qur'an

SUMMARY: Allah listens to the Prophet reciting the Qur'an in a pleasant voice.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "Allah never listens to anything as He listens to the Prophet reciting Qur'an in a pleasant sweet sounding voice". A companion of Abu Huraira said, "He means, reciting the Qur'an aloud".
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَا أَذِنَ اللَّهُ لِشَىْءٍ مَا أَذِنَ لِلنَّبِيِّ يَتَغَنَّى بِالْقُرْآنِ ‏"‏‏.‏ وَقَالَ صَاحِبٌ لَهُ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَجْهَرَ بِهِ‏.‏

This hadith speaks about the power of reciting the Quran. It is narrated by Abu Huraira that Allah's Messenger said that Allah never listens to anything as He listens to the Prophet reciting Qur'an in a pleasant sweet sounding voice. A companion of Abu Huraira added that he means reciting it aloud. This hadith teaches us how important it is for us to recite and listen to the Quran with a pleasant voice as this will make Allah listen more attentively and be pleased with us. We should also remember that when we recite or listen to the Quran we should do so with respect and reverence for its words as they are from God Himself.
