Be flexible in your faith yet remain firm in your beliefs even under pressure or difficult circumstances.

This hadith is about the comparison between believers and disbelievers. It compares believers to a fresh green plant which moves in whatever direction the wind forces it to move but stands still when the wind stops. On the other hand, it compares disbelievers to a pine tree which remains hard and straight until Allah cuts it down. This hadith teaches us that believers are flexible in their faith; they can adjust according to different situations but remain firm in their beliefs when there is no pressure or disturbance from outside sources. On the other hand, disbelievers are rigid in their beliefs; they do not change even if faced with difficult circumstances or pressure from outside sources.
