Locations for assuming Ihram

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ fixed certain locations as Miqat for people of different regions to assume Ihram.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Dinar: Ibn 'Umar said, "The Prophet fixed Qarn as the Miqat (for assuming the Ihram) for the people of Najd, and Al-Juhfa for the people of Sham, and Dhul-Hulaifa for the people of Medina". Ibn 'Umar added, "I heard this from the Prophet, and I have been informed that the Prophet said, 'The Miqat for the Yemenites is Yalamlam'. "When Iraq was mentioned, he said, "At that time it was not a Muslim country".

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had designated certain locations as Miqats for the people of different regions to assume the state of Ihram before performing Hajj or Umrah. These locations were Qarn for the people of Najd; Al-Juhfa for the people of Sham; Dhul Hulaifa for the people of Medina and Yalamlam was designated as a Miqat for Yemenites. It is important to note that at that time Iraq was not a Muslim country so it did not have any specific location assigned as its Miqat. This hadith teaches us about following rules and regulations set by Allah SWT and His Messenger ﷺ in order to perform religious obligations properly. It also teaches us about being mindful while travelling from one place to another in order to perform religious obligations with utmost sincerity and dedication towards Allah SWT.
