The Importance of Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught Ibn 'Abbas the importance of prayer and how to perform it correctly.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: I prayed with the Prophet one night and stood on his left side. Allah's Messenger caught hold of my head from behind and drew me to his right and then offered the prayer and slept. Later the Mu'adh-dhin came and the Prophet stood up for prayer without performing ablution.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer in Islam. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas, who said that he prayed with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). During this prayer, the Prophet caught hold of his head from behind and drew him to his right side. After this, they offered their prayers and went to sleep. Later on, when the Mu'adh-dhin came, they stood up for prayer without performing ablution first. This hadith teaches us that we should always take care to perform our prayers correctly and with full concentration. We should also remember that even if we forget or make a mistake while praying, we can still correct it afterwards without having to start all over again from scratch.
