Honesty and Trustworthiness

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ sent Abu 'Ubaida to the people of Najran as an honest and trustworthy person.

Narrated Hudhaifa: The Prophet said to the people of Najran, "I will send to you an honest person who is really trustworthy". The Companion, of the Prophet each desired to be that person, but the Prophet sent Abu 'Ubaida.
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ صِلَةَ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ قَالَ لأَهْلِ نَجْرَانَ ‏ "‏ لأَبْعَثَنَّ إِلَيْكُمْ رَجُلاً أَمِينًا حَقَّ أَمِينٍ ‏"‏‏.‏ فَاسْتَشْرَفَ لَهَا أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ فَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of honesty and trustworthiness. It is narrated by Hudhaifa that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ sent Abu 'Ubaida to the people of Najran as an honest and trustworthy person. This shows us how important it was for the Prophet ﷺ to send someone who was both honest and trustworthy, so much so that all his companions wanted to be chosen for this task. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to be honest in our dealings with others, no matter what situation we are in, because honesty is a trait which will always be appreciated by Allah SWT. We should also strive to be trustworthy in our relationships with others, as this will help build strong bonds between us and those around us.
