Sahih al-Bukhari 7149 (Book 93, Hadith 13) #6868
Authority Should Not Be Given To Those Who Ask For It

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that authority should not be given to those who ask for it or are eager to have it.

Narrated Abu Musa: Two men from my tribe and I entered upon the Prophet. One of the two men said to the Prophet, "O Allah's Messenger ! Appoint me as a governor," and so did the second. The Prophet said, "We do not assign the authority of ruling to those who ask for it, nor to those who are keen to have it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to achieve your goals with hard work and responsibility

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of not giving authority to those who ask for it or are eager to have it. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was visited by two men from Abu Musa's tribe, and both asked him for the authority of ruling. However, the Prophet ﷺ taught them that this is not something that should be given away so easily. He explained that one must earn their position and prove themselves worthy before they can be appointed as a governor or ruler. This hadith teaches us an important lesson about responsibility and hard work; we must strive to achieve our goals instead of expecting them to come easily without any effort on our part. It also reminds us of the importance of humility and modesty in all aspects of life, as these qualities will help us reach our goals in a more meaningful way than simply asking for them outright.
