Women Should Not Rule Nations

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against appointing a woman as ruler of a nation.

Narrated Abu Bakra: During the battle of Al-Jamal, Allah benefited me with a Word (I heard from the Prophet). When the Prophet heard the news that the people of the Persia had made the daughter of Khosrau their Queen (ruler), he said, "Never will succeed such a nation as makes a woman their ruler".
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، قَالَ لَقَدْ نَفَعَنِي اللَّهُ بِكَلِمَةٍ أَيَّامَ الْجَمَلِ لَمَّا بَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ أَنَّ فَارِسًا مَلَّكُوا ابْنَةَ كِسْرَى قَالَ ‏ "‏ لَنْ يُفْلِحَ قَوْمٌ وَلَّوْا أَمْرَهُمُ امْرَأَةً

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Bakra and it is about the Prophet Muhammad's warning against appointing a woman as ruler of a nation. During the battle of Al-Jamal, the Prophet heard news that the people of Persia had made the daughter of Khosrau their Queen. In response to this news, he said "Never will succeed such a nation as makes a woman their ruler". This hadith teaches us that women should not be appointed rulers over nations and that it is not beneficial for them to do so. It also shows us how important it is to follow Islamic teachings in order to ensure success in life.
