Sahih al-Bukhari 7013 (Book 91, Hadith 31) #6742
The Gift of Jawami al-Kalim

SUMMARY: Allah has given the Prophet Muhammad a special gift of being able to express many matters in few words, and he was made victorious with awe.

Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Messenger saying, "I have been sent with Jawami al-Kalim (ie, the shortest expression carrying the widest meanings), and I was made victorious with awe (cast into the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the earth were brought to me and were put in my hand". Muhammad said, Jawami'-al-Kalim means that Allah expresses in one or two statements or thereabouts the numerous matters that used to be written in the books revealed before (the coming of) the Prophet.

QUICK LESSONS:
Believe in Allah's power through faith alone; use words wisely to convey meaningful messages; trust in Allah's plan for victory over enemies.

EXPLANATIONS:
Allah gave the Prophet Muhammad a special gift known as Jawami al-Kalim, which means that he could express many matters in one or two statements or thereabouts. This was something that used to be written in books revealed before his coming. He was also made victorious with awe, meaning that fear and respect were cast into the hearts of his enemies. This hadith shows us how powerful and important the Prophet's words were, as they could convey so much meaning even when said briefly. It also teaches us about the power of faith and belief; even though Muhammad did not have an army or weapons, he still managed to win battles through his faith alone.
