Symbolism of Good Deeds

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ was unsure of what Allah would do to Uthman bin Maz'un, but Um Al-'Ala saw a dream in which there was a flowing spring for Uthman bin Maz'un, and the Prophet ﷺ interpreted it as symbolizing his good deeds.

Narrated Az-Zuhri: Regarding the above narration, The Prophet said, "I do not know what Allah will do to him (Uthman bin Maz'un)". Um Al-'Ala said, "I felt very sorry for that, and then I slept and saw in a dream a flowing spring for 'Uthman bin Maz'un, and told Allah's Messenger of that, and he said, "That flowing spring symbolizes his good deeds".

QUICK LESSONS:
Do more acts of kindness so that you can be sure that Allah will remember them when the time comes .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the symbolism of good deeds. It tells us that even if we are unsure of what Allah will do to us, our good deeds will be remembered by Him. The hadith is narrated by Az-Zuhri and Um Al-'Ala who both experienced a dream in which there was a flowing spring for Uthman bin Maz'un. The Prophet (ﷺ) interpreted this dream as symbolizing his good deeds. This teaches us that no matter how uncertain our future may seem, if we have done enough good deeds then Allah will remember them and reward us accordingly. We should strive to do more acts of kindness so that we can be sure that Allah will remember them when the time comes.
