Sahih al-Bukhari 6969 (Book 90, Hadith 16) #6699
Marriage Against One's Will

SUMMARY: This hadith is about a woman who was afraid of being married against her will, and the two elderly men from the Ansar told her not to worry as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had cancelled a similar marriage in the past.

Narrated Al-Qasim: A woman from the offspring of Ja'far was afraid lest her guardian marry her (to somebody) against her will. So she sent for two elderly men from the Ansar, 'AbdurRahman and Mujammi', the two sons of Jariya, and they said to her, "Don't be afraid, for Khansa' bint Khidam was given by her father in marriage against her will, then the Prophet cancelled that marriage".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a woman from the offspring of Ja'far who was afraid that her guardian would marry her off against her will. To reassure her, two elderly men from the Ansar named 'AbdurRahman and Mujammi', sons of Jariya told her not to worry as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had previously cancelled a similar marriage in the past. This incident highlights how important it is for consent to be given by both parties before entering into any kind of agreement or contract. It also shows us that even if someone has been forced into something without their consent or knowledge, they can still seek help and justice through proper channels such as religious leaders or authorities. Furthermore, this incident serves as an example for us to follow when we are faced with similar situations; we should always strive for justice and fairness regardless of our own personal interests or desires.
