Theft and Punishment

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ cut off the hand of a thief for stealing a shield.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Prophet cut off the hand of a thief for stealing a shield that was worth three Dirhams.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا جُوَيْرِيَةُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَطَعَ النَّبِيُّ فِي مِجَنٍّ ثَمَنُهُ ثَلاَثَةُ دَرَاهِمَ‏.‏
