Sahih al-Bukhari 678 (Book 10, Hadith 72) #652
The Prophet's Instruction for Abu Bakr to Lead Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) instructed his companions to ask Abu Bakr to lead the prayer in his place when he was ill.

Narrated Abu Musa: "The Prophet became sick and when his disease became aggravated, he said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the prayer"'.Aisha said, "He is a soft-hearted man and would not be able to lead the prayer in your place". The Prophet said again, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer". She repeated the same reply but he said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer. You are the companions of Joseph". So the messenger went to Abu Bakr (with that order) and he led the people in prayer in the lifetime of the Prophet.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow instructions from leaders humbly and faithfully
EXPLANATIONS:
When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ became ill, he instructed his companions to ask Abu Bakr to lead the prayer in his place. Aisha objected because she thought that Abu Bakr was too soft-hearted for such a task. However, the Prophet ﷺ insisted that they should still ask him and reminded them of their connection with Joseph by saying “You are the companions of Joseph”. This shows us how important it is for us as Muslims to follow instructions from our leaders even if we don’t understand why they are asking us something or if we think someone else would be better suited for a task. It also teaches us about loyalty and faithfulness towards our leaders as well as being humble enough to accept their decisions even if we disagree with them.
