The Reward of Following Allah's Messenger

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the reward of those who follow Allah's Messenger, and how they will be rewarded with entrance to Paradise.

Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Messenger saying, "From my followers there will enter Paradise a crowd, seventy thousand in number, whose faces will glitter as the moon does when it is full". On hearing that, 'Ukasha bin Mihsan Al-Asdi got up, lifting his covering sheet, and said, "O Allah's Messenger ! Invoke Allah that He may make me one of them". The Prophet said, "O Allah, make him one of them". Another man from the Ansar got up and said, "O Allah's Messenger ! Invoke Allah to make me one of them".The Prophet said (to him), "'Ukasha has preceded you".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the great reward that awaits those who follow Allah's Messenger. It tells us that a large group of people, seventy thousand in number, will enter paradise and their faces will shine like the full moon. 'Ukasha bin Mihsan Al-Asdi asked to be included in this group and was granted his wish by the Prophet. Another man from Ansar also asked for inclusion but was told he had been preceded by 'Ukasha. This hadith teaches us that if we are devoted followers of Allah's Messenger then we too can expect great rewards from God Almighty in the hereafter. We should strive to live our lives according to His teachings so that we may be among those who are blessed with entry into paradise on Judgment Day.
