Sahih al-Bukhari 6463 (Book 81, Hadith 52) #6212
Relying on Allah's Mercy

SUMMARY: The deeds of a person alone will not be enough to save them from the Hellfire, and they must rely on Allah's mercy in order to reach Paradise.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "The deeds of anyone of you will not save you (from the (Hell) Fire)". They said, "Even you (will not be saved by your deeds), O Allah's Messenger ?" He said, "No, even I (will not be saved) unless and until Allah bestows His Mercy on me. Therefore, do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and worship Allah in the forenoon and in the afternoon and during a part of the night, and always adopt a middle, moderate, regular course whereby you will reach your target (Paradise).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of relying on Allah's mercy in order to reach Paradise. It teaches us that our deeds alone are not enough to save us from the Hellfire, and we must also rely on Allah's mercy. We should strive to do good deeds properly, sincerely, and moderately so that we can reach our target of Paradise. We should also worship Allah regularly throughout the day and night by following a middle course or path which is neither too extreme nor too lax. This way we can ensure that we are doing what is necessary for us to receive His mercy and attain salvation in the hereafter.
