Prayer Before Traveling

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) instructed two men who were about to embark on a journey to pronounce Adhan and Iqama before they set out, with the oldest of them leading the prayer.

Narrated Malik bin Huwairith: Two men came to the Prophet with the intention of a journey. The Prophet said, "When (both of) you set out, pronounce Adhan and then Iqama and the oldest of you should lead the prayer".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pronounce Adhan and Iqama before setting out on a journey .

EXPLANATIONS:
Before embarking on a journey, it is important for Muslims to remember Allah and perform their prayers. This hadith narrated by Malik bin Huwairith tells us that when two people are about to travel, they should pronounce the call for prayer known as Adhan and then recite the words of Iqama. The oldest among them should lead the prayer. This hadith teaches us that we must always remember Allah in our daily lives and not forget Him even when we are away from home or travelling. It also reminds us of our responsibility towards each other as Muslims; if one person is unable to lead the prayer due to any reason, then another person can take up this responsibility instead.
