Sahih al-Bukhari 6243 (Book 79, Hadith 17) #5996
The Inevitability of Minor Sins

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that all humans are prone to committing minor sins, such as looking at forbidden things, talking about them, and having desires for them.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: I have not seen a thing resembling 'lamam' (minor sins) than what Abu Huraira 'narrated from the Prophet who said "Allah has written for Adam's son his share of adultery which he commits inevitably. The adultery of the eyes is the sight (to gaze at a forbidden thing), the adultery of the tongue is the talk, and the inner self wishes and desires and the private parts testify all this or deny it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to do your best in avoiding sinning as much as possible .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Ibn 'Abbas and it talks about the inevitability of committing minor sins. It states that Allah has written down the share of adultery which every human will inevitably commit. The Prophet Muhammad then goes on to explain what these minor sins are; they include looking at forbidden things with one's eyes, talking about them with one's tongue, and having desires for them in one's heart. He also mentions that our private parts can either testify or deny these actions. This hadith teaches us that although we may not be able to completely avoid sinning, we should still strive to do our best in avoiding it as much as possible. We should also remember that Allah is always forgiving and merciful towards us if we repent sincerely for our mistakes.
