Responding to the Call for Prayer with Faith in Allah

SUMMARY: Muawiya heard the Mu'adh-dhin call for prayer and responded with a phrase of faith in Allah's power.

Narrated Yahya as above (586) and added: "Some of my companions told me that Hisham had said, "When the Mu'adh-dhin said, "Haiyi 'alassala (come for the prayer)". Muawiya said, "La hawla wala quwata illa billah (There is neither might nor any power except with Allah)" and added, "We heard your Prophet saying the same".

QUICK LESSONS:
Listen carefully , Have faith in God's Power , Respond Appropriately
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about responding to the call for prayer with faith in Allah. When the mu’adh-dhin called out “Haiyi ‘alassala” or “come for prayer”, Muawiya responded by saying “La hawla wala quwata illa billah” or “there is neither might nor any power except with Allah.” This phrase expresses his belief that only God has true power and strength. It also shows that he was listening carefully to what was said and responding appropriately. The Prophet Muhammad also said this same phrase when he heard the call for prayer. This hadith teaches us that we should always have faith in God's power no matter what situation we are facing and respond appropriately when we hear a call from Him or His messenger.
