Sahih al-Bukhari 6071 (Book 78, Hadith 101) #5830
The Characteristics of the People of Paradise and Fire

SUMMARY: People of Paradise are humble and fulfill their promises, while people of Fire are cruel, violent, proud and conceited.

Narrated Haritha bin Wahb: Al-Khuzai: The Prophet said, "Shall I inform you about the people of Paradise? They comprise every obscure unimportant humble person, and if he takes Allah's Oath that he will do that thing, Allah will fulfill his oath (by doing that). Shall I inform you about the people of the Fire? They comprise every cruel, violent, proud and conceited person".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be humble, Keep your promises

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the characteristics that define the people who will be in paradise or in fire. It is narrated by Haritha bin Wahb Al-Khuzai that Prophet Muhammad said that those who will be in paradise are humble people who keep their promises. On the other hand, those who will be in fire are cruel, violent, proud and conceited people. This hadith teaches us to stay away from pride and arrogance as these qualities can lead us to hellfire. We should also strive to become humble so we can enter paradise with Allah's mercy.
